Neodymium iron boron (rare earth) is the highest strength magnet material available.
Use where:

• Space is it a premium or a very high level of magnetism is required
• Temperature is lower than 120 °C

Neodymium magnet material is brittle so fixing it into a magnet assembly, with a steel or aluminium case protects it, as well as allowing the magnet to be machined to include threads, holes and loops.
